Salt Print
A collaborative class between AP Photo and Chemistry where we practiced making salt prints. The process is historically based from 1839, which was when the first image on paper was created. The process included coating the paper with NaCl solution 4 times, drying the paper in between each coat. Then we did the same thing but with silver nitrate, which makes the paper light sensitive. After drying the paper completely, we placed our chosen objects in an arrangement of our choice in a contact printer. I used dried plants and old film for mine. We placed the contact printers outside for around 20 minutes, and then completed the process by rinsing the photograph, putting it in fixer for 4 minutes, and then rinsing the photo for 20 more minutes. After the photo had dried completely, I scanned the photo and tweaked the contrast in Photoshop.
